Currently Ravi is working as a Child Participation Specialist with UNICEF Head Quarter, in the Gender Rights and Civic Engagement Section at New York. He has also been a consultant advisor to EqualinRights on developing a tool for managers in the development sector on rights based management – applying the human rights principles to organisational development and management.
From 2002 to 2007, Ravi was the Regional Programme Manager in South and Central Asia for Save the Children Sweden. He had the overall responsibility for supporting programmes and in developing, implementing the regional programme strategy. With a specific focus on Save the Children’s four prioritised themes: End violence against children, promote child rights programming as a programme approach, child protection in emergencies and develop strategic partnerships. Save the Children’s programme work is based on the principles of Child Rights Programming (CRP) including strengthening and promoting children’s participation, accountability and non-discrimination. He has also supported other agencies like Plan International and War Child Holland to advance human rights abased approach t programming.
As a member of the Global Task Group, Ravi influenced the UN Study on Violence against Children especially on strengthen children’s participation. Ravi has facilitated many strategy development workshops at global, regional and country levels. He specialises in intergenerational and multi cultural facilitation techniques for children and adult audience. These range from facilitation for senior management to facilitation directly with right holders – children and communities. Ravi has authored/co-authored over 30 publications in areas of child rights, children’s participation, child protection, advocacy, gender, masculinities, gender and inclusion and emergencies.
