Please share a short bio for yourself. This should be no more than 3-4 short paragraphs.
Currently studying MSc Violence, Conflict and Development at SOAS. I have worked with young people in two different contexts. First, as an English teacher abroad in Spain and then in Turkey. Whilst in Turkey I became interested in children in conflict seeing the many young Syrian refugees working/begging in the streets and the contrast between them the Turkish children, also working in some cases, and the children at home, London, UK. I had worked two summers at home with an organization called The Challenge that provided a government social inclusion programme, National Citizen Service (NCS).

Returning to work a third year delivering NCS I began to wonder if a programme like this, designed to build more cohesive communities for the benefit of British society could promote peace in post-conflict societies. I was and still am skeptical, but my interest led me back to school.

Over the course of the year I have been distracted from my original interest but now find myself returning to this theme, Youth in Conflict, in writing my dissertation. More specifically, youth as a construct in peace building processes. This network, I hope, will help in my research.
